I love this song

Just realized as BLP posted this for his Song Of The Day on Facebook that the ending could be taken as a metaphor for sibling relationships. Doesn't necessarily jibe with the rest of the lyrics, but still...

This is the best commercial out there. Love the father and son togetherness and the little boy's excitement when his dad comes home with a little toy truck like his dad's big truck. Good music and lyrics, also.

This guy has some songs I really like and I'd consider art, and completely awesome for adults to listen to. But this song is... Lol. Free pass for being from 1986 though. Oh, and a song about putting your finger in your orifices. I feel like someone could make a joke about that, but I can't put my finger up it.

I love this song. Its clever & simple & happy & sad somehow. Captures the innocence of youth and reminds me of when I was a kid and simple pleasures were all you needed to make you happy - a long time ago now! Probably that's the bit that makes me feel sad! I sing it to my dogs especially when we are in the car. So funny to see it on the VW ad with so many dogs enjoying it too. I had to laugh !

BLP- I grew up in Gaithersburg, MD in the 70s. I listened to your albums almost constantly, made my mother take me to so many of your shows. Thank you for so many of my happy, childhood memories.

Peter did a cover of my song--in fact, he recorded three of my songs...."I Wanna Be a Dog" and also "He Eats Asparagus, Why Can't You Be That Way?" I have all my songs on my web site, plus a section called "Other Voices" that lists everyone who did covers--including my song in JUNO. I always thought, since childhood about 25plus years ago, that is was written/performed by peter alsop. I used to have a homemade tape with him singing it (at least I thought it was him.

Yes, it's really me here. Check out my web site for more songs or say hello on Facebook. I mostly sang (and still sing) in schools and libraries but did do some hospital shows as well. It may have been someone covering my song, but my song was on my 2nd album (the same one that has the song used in JUNO) and a lot of people covered it. Glad you have great memories of my song, despite being in the hospital. I imagine that could have been a scary thing at such a young age. All my best!

Happy to have my song "I Need You Like a Donut Needs a Hole" used for the new animal rescue shelter. We've gotten four dogs from shelters over the years.

We were introduced to this fantastic music way back in the 80's and saw Barry Lewis Polisar at the Dade County Book Fair. My oldest girl had a t-shirt her mom had made based on "There's No Substitute For A Cat". Great fun music then, great fun music now.

I was curious, sir, but have you considered writing anti-war songs in the past? Or is it simply a passion to write music geared towards children? I understand that not all of what you have written is that way, but I just thought I might tell you that I think that you might could have some potential in political activist music. You have a unique voice and harmonica well you play well. I am a fan of "All I want is you" Gonna sing it for a girl some day before proposing..Gonna play harmonica soon.
